Thank you to each and every one of you who took time out of your busy schedules last week to come and chat with me for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Thanks to your wonderful support, we had nearly 100% participation, one of my best years yet. THANK YOU - your support matters!
This week in reading we will move on to Week 3 of Unit 2 (Science at Play) in LEAD21. The focus question will be "How does science help us understand the natural world?" and the vocabulary will be search and shadow. Our new comprehension skill for the week is making predictions, we will be working on singular and plural possessives in grammar, and we will also be studying contractions. We will have a new spelling skill this week, and we will be practicing long o words for the next couple weeks.
As we wrap up our study of The Writing Process, we will be focusing on a strategy for organizing our writing that I call Stoplight Writing. We will explore this strategy as we begin a personal narrative called If I Had a Million Dollars.
In math this week, we will continue our study of multiplication, using Chapter 4 of our GoMath workbooks as one resource. Specifically, we will learn strategies for multiplying by 2, 4, 5, and 10 this week. On Friday, we will switch gears again and work on graphing.
Have a great week!
