I know I'm off to a late start here, and I apologize for that. I've just been having such a great time getting to know all of your wonderful children here at school! What an awesome first week we've had!
We've been spending a lot of time these first few weeks working on procedures and routines both in our classroom and out in the school. We have also discussed at length what the Newman Pillars - Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Trustworthy, Be Safe - mean to us. We're still working on classroom poster reminders, and we've completed our classroom Bill of Rights.
Please check around at home and make sure that you have returned all important documents (with your signature) back to school. We have sent home two separate blue packets. The first had items like the weapons policy, the media release, and the handbook signoff. The second one came home on a Friday and included a student information sheet and permission to activate your child's Google account through the school district. It is imperative to have both of these packets back to school as soon as possible. I am especially looking forward to all we can do when we get the students started with their Google apps.
There's so much I'm forgetting, I'm sure, but this will do for now. I will try to update the blog each week with a description of what we will be working on in the curricular areas, as well as extra happenings here at Newman.
Here's to a great year!!
